Helping and encouraging were the themes for today. This was achieved by all the groups as the children took on the challenges. Wetherlam and Coniston groups had their 'journey day' in the sunshine. Wetherlam camped over the lake before climbing up Beacon Hill and then rockclimbing. Coniston group climbed up a mountain called the Old Man of Coniston. it took about 6 hours but they were so proud to reach the top and see the view. Brown Pike group went rock climbing in a local quarry and then had to solve the problem of how to get the team through a giant spiders web. they did it but with some hilarious mishaps!!!!
Swirl How group were climbing on the indoor wall and then went sailing in the afternoon.
All staff were proud of their groups . Children were trying new activities and overcoming new fears. This evening we played a game of scramble scrabble around the grounds with the children working in teams of four to find letters and make long words.
Washing-up is still a great activity to watch but they are so much faster at bed-making and sandwich constructing. One more full day so we hope the sun stays.

I am very envious of you adventurers in Cumbria.
We are all off to the hall just now to listen to a storyteller who might help us imagine the kind of wonderful real-life experiences you are having. Hope the rest of your Lakeland experience is even more fun, more challenging and 'risky' but totally safe. Wishing I was there, Mr. G.

We had a really wet day despite the sun shining on the local mountains.
we all went Ghyll Scrambling which involve climbing up waterfalls, sliding under fallen trees and jumping into deep #####l of very cold water. All the groups are working with great spirit to help and support each other. wetherlam group went rock climbing as well and some of the children did it blindfolded. swirl how group had problems to solve.
Coniston group were challenged to cross planks and climb Walls - which they did. brown pike group got lost orienteering.
after a great dinner of chicken curry all the children went alien hunting in the grounds and then we went into the middle of a field and looked in awe at the starry sky.
All the staff are proud of our children who are trying new activities and showing good teamwork.
